Hi there, we are the NSR family bringing you the action from out here at Playa Maderas.  Today we headed out to the beach in the morning expecting to score some fun waves with the incoming tide and we did.  The wind keeps blowing strong offshore and the water is still super cold down here in Nicaragua.  The waves were running about waist to chest high with some sporadic shoulder high waves on sets and not many people were out.

Usually not that many locals surf when it’s this cold.  Today only a few  were taking advantage on the many waves we had coming through.   This is “El Chulin” Estrella with a cool shot about to throw the lip.

This morning was a little bit overcast making tough for photos.  We also were feeling the cool winds all over the place but these weather patterns didn’t stop the locals.  Here we have a shot of “La Gaviota” Chamorro trying to warm up a little bit with this aerial move.

There were a few guys working hard on the big pangas, trying to keep the balance against the strong winds.  This is an unknown rider shot taking off on a nice looking right.

Our good friend Randy “El Bambino” was doing the best to manage with the weather conditions as well.  Check him out going big with a killer vertical maneuver with his big board.  Nice one buddy!!!

Not many girls were out this morning but we want to share this shot with you because it is a good example to follow.  If you guys want to go out surfing this time of the year, it is a very good idea to wear on your full wetsuit to keep warm.  For those who wants to know the water is between 60 – 65 degrees at Maderas right now.  It is a little bit warmer up towards Popoyo, but not much.

We want to give a special shout out to this little kid.  He’s been surfing for less than three months and today he got his first surf shot on.  He is Michael “El Garrobito” Dinarte setting up for a sick bottom turn on this wave.  It is good to see more local kids out trying to learn how to surf.

On the last shot of the day we have “La Bestia” Calderon destroying a mushy wave.  The waves should be about the same size for the next few days but we are expecting to have a solid swell next week.  You still have time to organize a quick trip through NSR Rentals down here to Nicaragua and score many sick waves with your friends.  Send us an email and we can set you guys up!!!
